A Dry Stack is a series of racks that provides dry places for boat storage and easy access for removal with a forklift to a boat lift and return point. The boat is gently set on two padded wooden timbers which provide a support bed for the boat. These supports are fully adjustable in order to accommodate the hull perfectly.
The rack structure has a number of levels and the boats are placed in individual slots with a specially designed forklift that uses very long forks. The boat is cradled with articulated forks and transported to the boat lift and return point for launch into the water.
It is both less expensive and more environmentally sensitive to add racks and move smaller boats into them. Doing this makes room available for larger boats and sailboats that cannot fit into racks, thus reducing the need to increase the water surface area of the marina.
It has become recognised by many boat owners that there are great benefits to using Dry Stack berths which include:
No need for antifouling.
Reduced risk of saltwater deterioration. Secure storage.
Better fuel economy.
Enhanced residual value.
Increased time on the water
Improved accessibility at most states of tide.
Eliminates wear and tear on trailer and tow vehicle.
Avoids slipway rage!
